Employee State Insurance (ESI) is an integrated social security and health insurance scheme in India mandatory for employees earning a gross monthly wage of ₹21,000 or less.
The ESI scheme provides comprehensive medical care and cash benefits during sickness, maternity, temporary or permanent disablement, and death due to employment injury. Establishments with 10 or more employees in implemented areas must register and file monthly ESI contribution returns.
Employee ESI = 0.75% of Gross Wages | Employer ESI = 3.25% of Gross Wages (Total = 4.0% of Gross Wages)Kirxa automatically checks the ₹21,000 gross threshold per employee each pay period, calculates exact 0.75% and 3.25% deductions, and compiles ESIC monthly upload sheets.
If an employee wage exceeds ₹21,000 after the start of a contribution period (April–Sept or Oct–March), ESI continues to be deducted until the end of that contribution period.
